I have a musician bucket list of all the musicians I have to see before they die. Of all of them, this man was number one with a bullet. So glad I did. Even at 83 years old when I saw him, he brought the house down around our ears. I don’t much get affected by celebrity deaths, but my allergies are acting up quite a bit this morning.

One of my friends saw him at a blues festival last summer, and he told me it’s pretty much a different story nowadays.
As in, he definitely had dementia hoing on, could hardly play, and really shouldn’t have been on the road.
Pretty sad...

Yeah, he’s been in poor health for a long time, but I managed to see him a few years before it got *really* bad. Maybe his playing had taken a hit, but he could still sing, and he still had his unbelievable charisma.
